WSP is currently searching for a **Junior Geotechnical Earthquake Engineer** to join our team in **Redmond, WA** . The successful candidate will provide expert advice in earthquake hazard assessment and support engineering analysis. Experience will be gained in all aspects of seismic hazards with an emphasis on seismic hazard analyses, site response analyses, and evaluation of liquefaction triggering and consequences. Services may be provided for projects for various transportation, mining, and/or marine facilities. Our team undertakes assignments for large-scale infrastructure projects in both USA and abroad and in both stable continental and seismically active regions.
This Engineer may also provide more typical geotechnical engineering and consulting services for projects and clients locally in Washington. This may include performing field investigations, engineering analyses, calculations, construction observations, and preparation of related reports for the services provided. Assign, review, and evaluate laboratory and field data for inclusion in reports.
+ Support geotechnical earthquake engineering related projects by performing analyses such as site-specific seismic hazard analysis, time history development, and site response analysis for various commercial, industrial, building, environmental, infrastructure, and transportation projects.
+ Perform professional geotechnical engineering work and assist with proposed and existing site conditions, including subsurface investigations, soil foundation engineering, settlement analysis, advanced earthquake engineering, lateral earth pressures, and slope stability to determine conformance with applicable rules, standards, construction, or operating permits for commercial, industrial, building, environmental, infrastructure, and transportation projects.
+ Work as an individual or as part of a cross-functional team of engineers, geologists, and scientific professionals to collect seismology data, build seismic hazard model and perform seismic hazard analyses.
+ Prepare data and visualizations such as tables, charts, reports, sketches, calculations, and illustrations for the interpretation or presentation of data, findings, or analyses.
+ Assist with development and scoping of small- to medium-sized projects.
+ Contribute to the preparation of technical reports and presentations that explain research and findings.
+ Work collaboratively with other engineers and team members on projects.
+ Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to
+ WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
+ Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
**Who You Are**
+ Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in geology, geophysics or engineering.
+ Minimum of 1 year post-graduate training in engineering seismology, earthquake geology, geotechnical earthquake engineering or related fields.
+ Experience with major programming languages used in engineering and earth science applications, with a preference for Python and/or R.
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills
+ Analytical mindset to exercise sound judgement in evaluating situations and making decisions.
+ Critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to apply technical knowledge to reach conclusions from data collation, calculations, statistical analysis and arriving at the most effective and logical solution.
+ Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
+ Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical work week.
+ Valid U.S driver s license and satisfactory driving record.
+ 2 to 4 years of experience in the field of engineering seismology, geotechnical engineering, earthquake geology, or similar.
+ Experience with an earthquake hazard programs such as OpenQuake, Haz45, and EZ-FRISK.
Compensation and Benefits:

Expected Salary: $54,700 – $98,600
