Quality Technician
Job Description
SUMMARY The Quality Technician is responsible for day-to-day activities that will impact the manufacturing operations at Formsprag. The quality technician supports all processes and procedures of operations, conducts quality checks and audits, as well as provides support to internal and external customers and suppliers. You will also be responsible for the management and maintenance of technical data in the information system from internal and external sources. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Inspect, test, or measure materials, products, installations, or work for conformance to specifications. Measure dimensions of products to verify conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as rulers, calipers, gauges, micrometers, CMMs. Read blueprints or other materials to determine specifications, inspection and testing procedures and calibration processes required Record inspection or test data. Strong computer skills including QA applications, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases. Work with Engineering and Production to ensure that products are manufactured according to approved processes and prints. Assist with both internal and customer quality audits and inspections of operational and supplier programs and processes. Manage change requests through the EQMS (IQS) and verify the revised document meets the intent of the required standard, AS9100 and customer and government regulations. Perform document audits to verify documents are still valid and meet the intent of the standard. This will require collaboration with staff members. Function as an Internal Auditor (must meet customer specific training requirements) Review customer and government websites for updates to document revisions and record the update on the review log. Download and manage the storage of the documents in the appropriate format and location. Communicate the revisions of documents of external origin regulation to the required Formsprag personnel. Manage the records storage and retrieval process. This will include scanning and filing, communicating with the storage organization. Work with other departments as necessary for the management of their records. Communicate external failure documentation and associated information with suppliers when material review reports are written. Work with purchasing/buyers to make sure material required for return to vendor is conducted. Critical Competencies General knowledge of metals machining and manufacturing process. Understanding and ability to accurately use mechanical inspection tools and geometric tolerancing Excellent communication skills (written and verbal). Strong computer skills including quality applications, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases. Experience with CMM operation and programing a plus. Education and Experience Requirements A minimum of a high school diploma or GED is required. Additional education in a technical field is desired 3 years of experience working as a machinist or 1 year as a quality technician/specialist in a manufacturing facility producing machined components is required. Experience in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) Experience in a regulated environment (Manufacturing, Food Industry, Medical Device, etc.) Strong teamwork and communication skills and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions PHYSICAL DEMANDS and WORK ENVIRONMENT: Normal amount of sitting and standing, average mobility to move around an office and plant environment, able to conduct normal amount of work on a computer.
