**Job Description**

Are you a passionate and experienced Geologist who wants to contribute to challenging and interesting projects that provide direct value to our communities? Do you have experience in the dam space and are looking to join a high performing team? With recurrent project wins and a strong pipeline of work, we are seeking a motivated **Senior Engineering Geologist** to join our **Denver** AECOM Dams Team.

The Denver Dams Team is a center of technical excellence and often wins work purely on the strength of its people and its great reputation. By joining our team, you will get **mentoring and guidance** from our **industry leading experts** in the fields of geology, geotechnical, structural and dam design. You will also get the opportunity to work and collaborate with other professionals in the West (Oakland, San Diego).

Your role will involve:

+ Undertaking geotechnical investigations including:

+ Logging and characterizing the engineering properties of foundation and embankment materials,

+ Geological mapping and hazard mapping,

+ Overseeing laboratory testing programs, and

+ Data collation, geological characterization, analysis and reporting.

+ Field investigations may last 1-2 months (typically 10days on, 4days off) followed with an equal time of office based reporting and ongoing support to dam designers.

+ Collaborating with geotechnical and structural engineers to develop robust dam designs.

+ Assisting in the preparation of project documentation including reports, project communications, and design drawings and report figures that are of a high professional standard.

+ Assisting with proposals.

+ Performing geological mapping during construction of a dam foundation

+ Collaborating closely with Engineering Geologists in the Denver Mining Department.

**Qualifications**

Minimum Requirements:

+ BA/BS + 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

+ Valid US Drivers License required.

Preferred Qualifications:

+ Good planning and organizational skills

+ Ability to conduct field work in a productive and safe manner

+ Knowledge of standard engineering practices, techniques and procedures

+ General design skills including construction materials selection and specification, slope stabilization works, foundation design for small structures

+ Ideally 5+ years of experience with performing drilling investigations on dams and levees

+ Good report writing skills including Design Memos for specific task outcomes, factual investigation reports, geotechnical interpretive reports, design reports

+ Analytical skills and knowledge of geological and geotechnical software (i.e., RocScience, Geo-Slope, gINT, Leapfrog, etc.)

+ Ideally, 7 – 12 years of experience as a Geologist/Engineering Geologist including investigations.

+ Offered rate of compensation (Colorado locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The target salary range for this position is $75,000 – $110,000.
