**This Opportunity**

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior Geologist or Environmental Scientist with experience performing environmental site investigation, restoration, and remediation for Navy and other Department of Defense (DoD) clients. This position will report to the Portland, OR office, but the right individual can be based elsewhere in Washington or Oregon as well.

Be involved in projects with our Earth & Environment NW Site Assessment & Remediation Practice and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges. The successful candidate will have at least 7 years and preferably 10 or more years of experience working on and managing complex site investigation and remediation, preferably including projects for Navy and other Department of Defense clients, and should be conversant with MTCA and other relevant State and Federal regulations and guidance. Work location and schedule can be flexible as long as client and company objectives are met.

**Your Impact**

+ Provide Task Order management for work performed under our DoD contracts.

+ Lead efforts on environmental site investigations, land use control inspections, five-year reviews and other restoration and compliance Tasks.

+ Provide guidance to project teams on data collection efforts for extracting, identifying, and compiling environmental data from soil sampling, soil gas sampling, groundwater sampling, stormwater sampling, boring logs, and other matrices.

+ Ensure regulatory requirement compliance pertaining to the data integrity, documentation, procedures, training, monitoring systems, and record compliance and retention.

+ Prepare comprehensive technical reports and presentations that explain research, findings, and recommendations to prevent, control, remedy, or clean-up chemical and environmental problems and contamination.

+ Analyze, evaluate, and interpret geologic, hydrogeologic, and chemical data obtained during field investigations, offering input with developing action plans for moderate- to high-level threat mitigation activities.

+ Prepare and implement site Health and Safety Plans (HASPs).

+ Interact with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients in a confident and professional manner.

+ Oversee and monitor cross-functional teams in executing project work, and collaborate with professionals from a variety of disciplines to provide future ready solutions for clients.

+ Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

+ Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

**Who You Are**

**Required Qualifications**

+ Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Hydrogeology, or closely related discipline, with 7 to 10 or more years of experience working in environmental consulting.

+ Experience working on Department of Defense projects (Navy/NAVFAC NW) a plus.

+ OR and/or WA registration required if applicable to discipline.

+ Must have working understanding of WA, OR and AK regulations including MTCA, as well as Federal regulations

+ Proficient with environmental research, investigation, technology, measurement tools, software, and techniques.

+ Project management experience with small to mid-level projects including tracking hours and expenses for project work.

+ Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a scientific and non-scientific audience.

+ Demonstrated high-level of self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment, and the ability to work independently and provide guidance and leadership to junior team or project members, with strict adherence to QA/QC.

+ Well-developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to reach conclusions from testing results and data collation, and ability to identify the most cost-effective responses that will minimize waste, prevent pollution, and conserve resources.

+ Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

+ Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.

+ Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

+ 40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) (29 CFR 1910.120) with current (or within grace period) refresher required.#LI-SS2
