**This Opportunity**

WSP is currently initiating a search for a **Senior Hydrogeologist** for our **Shelton, CT** location. Be involved in projects with our Water Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.

We are looking for an individual who is inspired to grow with us and become an integral part of our team. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to be part of our dynamic and highly talented distributed team of hydrogeologists delivering high profile projects to our clients. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in hydrogeology and groundwater modeling and experience in the New England area.

**Your Impact**

+ Preparation of Water Withdrawal and Diversion Permit applications and supporting documentation

+ Preparation of well site permit applications, well construction specifications and well yield testing plans

+ Preparation of project plans and technical reports of hydrogeologic investigations, and provide analysis and interpretations of findings

+ Possess a working knowledge and understanding of federal and state regulations applicable to groundwater use

+ Project management responsibilities including preparation of proposals, management of schedule, manpower, and budget requirements to effectively implement projects

+ Provide professional and responsible written and verbal communications with clients, contractors and regulators

+ Provide water supply well design, and direct/oversee well construction, sampling and testing

+ Assist in the design and field performance of aquifer tests, and analysis of test data using standard solution methods

+ Document and record field data and observations in a clear and organized manner, and prepare logs and other forms from the field notes during well drilling, pump testing and water sampling

+ Coordinate field activities and schedules with property/facility owner/operators in a clear, professional manner

+ Provide assistance in the analysis, evaluation and interpretation of hydrologic, hydrogeologic and chemical data obtained during field investigations

+ Make technical presentations when necessary to describe project work to clients, regulators, colleagues or the general public

+ Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

+ Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

**Who You Are**

**Required Qualifications**

+ Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Hydrogeology or Environmental Engineering

+ 7+ years of experience in hydrogeology

+ Proficiency with ESRI’s ArcGIS software is a plus.

+ Highly proficient with analytical geology concepts, research, investigation, technology, measurement tools, software, and techniques.

+ Strong knowledge of relevant environmental laws, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.

+ Project management experience with mid-level projects including tracking hours and expenses for project work.

+ Works independently and provides guidance and leadership to mid-level to senior level team or project members, with strict adherence to QA/QC.

+ Knowledge of general geologic concepts including map contouring, stratigraphy, aquifer testing, hydrologic monitoring, and soil classification

+ Experienced with providing critical review for documents and preparing technical deliverables and plans with a high degree of complexity.

+ Strong self-leadership and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to effectively, persuasively, and tactfully interact with employees at all levels of the organization.

+ Proficiency with office automation and communication software, technology, and tools.

+ Well-developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to reach conclusions from testing results, data collation, and identify the most cost-effective responses

+ Ability to interact with a wide variety of sources, including project managers, clients, and sector-wide staff.

+ Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

+ Must be flexible to a variety of schedules to meet business needs and able to prioritize responsibilities and quickly adapt to change in a pressure work environment.

+ Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

**Preferred Qualifications:**

+ Candidates should have a Master of Science degree in geology, hydrogeology or a related field

+ New York State Licensed Professional Geologist

+ New York and Connecticut Water Use Permitting experience

+ GIS experience is a plus
