**This Opportunity**

WSP is currently initiating a search for a **Senior Project Geologist** for our **Richmond, VA** office. Be involved in projects with our Earth and Environment Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.

In this role, you will manage environmental projects that involve field studies, report preparation, budget management, and interaction with coworkers, clients, subcontractors, and regulators. Projects will include groundwater, surface water, soil, and air sampling; environmental site assessments; regulatory permitting; subsurface site characterizations involving drilling, soil classification, and bedrock mapping; groundwater remediation; geochemistry; statistical evaluations; and hazardous waste site characterization and remediation. The successful candidate should enjoy identifying new business opportunities and building successful client relationships.

**Your Impact**

+ Understand various regulatory environments and associated technical requirements

+ Identify, develop, and manage the delivery of solutions to our clients

+ Supervise, coordinate, and review/evaluate activities carried out by junior engineers and scientists

+ Prepare proposals (scope, schedule, and budget)

+ Simultaneously manage multiple projects through all phases of development

+ Up to 25% of regional travel and fieldwork

+ Assist with junior staff mentoring and team planning and development

+ Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

+ Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

**Who You Are**

**Required Qualifications**

+ B.S. or B.A. in Geology, Hydrogeology or related field.

+ Minimum 5-7 years of environmental project experience, including project management, proposal writing, client contact, and regulatory interaction.

+ Strong technical knowledge and the passion and desire to excel.

+ The ability to accumulate and share technical knowledge across a broad-spectrum audience of both technical and non-technical persons.

+ Team management skills, including the ability to build strong relationships with key stakeholders.

+ Must be able to pass a HAZWOPER physical and be medically able to wear a tight-fitting respirator

+ Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening.

+ Developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to reach conclusions from testing results, data collation, and identify the most cost-effective responses that will minimize waste, prevent pollution, and conserve resources.

+ Ability to assertively direct others in the field such as subcontracted drillers, excavation contractors, utility locators, and others to consistently complete tasks safely and efficiently.

+ Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

+ Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.

+ Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

**Preferred Qualifications**

+ Master’s Degree is preferred.

+ 10 years of environmental project experience, including project management, proposal writing, client contact, and regulatory interaction.

+ 40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) (29 CFR 1910.120) preferred.

+ Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training desired.
