Join us.Job DescriptionAECOM Honolulu office is actively seeking a mid to senior-level environmental chemist for employment to be a task leader for a variety of military environmental projects (i.e., Remedial Investigations, Feasibility Studies, and Remedial Actions) within the Federal sector. The successful candidate will have at a minimum a MS in chemistry, Environmental Science, Engineering, or Geology with a successful work history of environmental investigation and remediation projects. The candidate must also be able to work as part of a project team comprised of AECOM staff and subcontractors. Flexibility to work on a multitude of diverse projects, a positive attitude, willingness to mentor junior staff, and commitment to workplace health and safety are imperative. Field work may be required including the oversight of subcontractors Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:• Support development of project documents including SAPs and QAPPs. • Support data evaluation, including regulatory comparison, and associated reporting for field investigation and remediation reports. • Validate analytical chemical data in accordance with DoD, USEPA, and State guidelines. • Solicit analytical laboratory services and evaluate for project use. • Act as liaison between laboratory, field team, and project management during project implementation. • Support field work including mobilizations, on location associated with sample/site data collection, and provide technical and administrative support as needed to comply with project QA/QC requirements. • Provide technical support for others in the Seattle office as well as other northwest offices as needed to support remedial investigation, feasibility study, and remediation design projects.QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:BA/BS in Chemistry, Environmental Science, or other related science.Minimum 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or educationValid driver’s license.US Citizen, for access to DoD project sitesAbility to successfully obtain a DBIDs pass to gain access to any required federal military installation site locationsAbility to travel at least 10% of the timeMust successfully pass preemployment background checkPreferred Qualifications:Ph D Degree in chemistry, Environmental Science, Engineering, Geology or related discipline.10+ years of working experience within the consulting industry in environmental analytical chemistry, such as environmental chemistry laboratory, data validation, or environmental consulting.Position requires analytical and interpersonal skills, solid planning and organizational skills.Detail oriented and able to understand big picture/goals of each task.  Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.Proficient in standard office computer applications and software, to include Microsoft Word and Excel, and Access.Working knowledge of instrumentation used for environmental analysis (i.e. GC/MS, ICP, GC-ECD, IC, etc.) is a plusAbility to obtain 40-hour HAZWOPER training.Experienced with environmental science principles, including site assessment and characterization, remediation, risk assessment, environmental chemistry, etc.Excellent skills in written and spoken communication (including polished client presentation skills), organization, time management.Ability to work as part of a project team comprised of AECOM staff and subcontractors.Additional InformationAECOM is proud to offer a comprehensive benefits program to meet the diverse needs of our employees.
