Join us.Job DescriptionAECOM has an exciting opportunity for an Environmental Planner, Transporation focused professional, to join our Environmental Planning and Permitting (EPP) team in Southern California.  This is a hybrid role and can be based out of AECOM’s Los Angeles, San Diego or Orange, CA offices. You will work with a diverse team of technical leaders across a broad range of practice areas delivering environmental planning, impact assessment, permitting and compliance services to our key transportation clients.In this role you will evaluate and develop environmental documents to support transportation planning projects, State highway facilities planning and development, and Rapid transit, bike and other low-carbon transportation project planning and permitting. Roadway transportation project work will include interaction with senior project managers and task leaders, California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) staff, as well as representatives from cities, counties, and local, regional, state, and federal agencies. In this role you may serve as a task manager, analyst, or technical lead, depending on the project assignment. Job Responsibilities include, but not limited to:Provide California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) evaluations for projects.Gather, guide, and process data and information generated by engineering, design, operational, and other technical experts for use in environmental documents.Complete research, writing, and impact analysis for a range of CEQA and NEPA documents.Work on multiple projects simultaneously within scope/budget/schedule expectations and meeting quality standards on project deliverables.Provide environmental permitting support, meeting coordination and moderation.About AECOM’s Environment Business Line Join AECOM to be part of an expert global team who is connected through a well-developed, worldwide, internal technical practice network through which you can learn from and brainstorm with the best in the world. We help clients reduce their impact on the environment, achieve compliance and reduce risks.QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in environmental planning or a related field.2+ years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education in CEQA/NEPA document preparation and related technical studies for CEQA/NEPA documents.Preferred Qualifications:4+ years of experience in CEQA/NEPA document preparation for environmental planning projects.1+ year of experience successfully coordinating CEQA/NEPA document preparation and technical studies for Caltrans projects.A general understanding of regulatory requirements for Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), Federal Transit Administration (FTA), and/or Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) projects.Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills to effectively manage tasks and interact with teams of staff, subconsultants, and clients.Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Adobe Portable Document Format application programs.Ability to work independently and demonstrate a high level of competence.Strong organizational and time management skills.Exceptional detail orientation and attention to quality.Flexibility and willingness to work on a diverse range of projects.Familiarity with proposal and/or task order preparation.Additional InformationDue to the nature of this role, U.S Citizenship is required.Offered rate of compensation (California locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location.
