Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking an experienced Geologist or Environmental Scientist for employment within our Environmental Remediation Practices group in the Annapolis Junction MD office to support and manage a variety of oil and gas investigation/remediation projects with oversight from senior managers and technical experts. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate investigation/remediation project experience and require a strong focus on health and safety, be detailed orientated, excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to work independently, and will be capable of working collaboratively in a high-performance team. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in environmental field data collection including drilling, soil logging, well installation and soil, groundwater and vapor sample collection. 

In addition, the candidate will have experience in data management and technical report production.  Strong verbal and written communication skills are critical for this role.

Tasks will include:

  • Health and safety stewardship, including local field visits
  • Managing scope, schedule, and budget for small to mid-sized investigation/remediation projects
  • Building strong client relationships
  • Client and regulatory correspondence
  • Technical report writing and review
  • Analyzes and applies solutions to atypical and/or semi-complex and challenging issues within area of expertise
  • Preparing cost estimates and proposals
  • Working effectively with project teams, clients, and all other stakeholders
  • Coordinating work schedules with AECOM staff and subcontractors
  • Responsible for quality control of tasks
  • Mentor project Jr. staff
  • Data management, evaluation and report writing with experience drafting environmental investigation reports.
  • Qualified candidates must be comfortable with periodic travel to project locations including driving and overnight stays.
  • Flexibility to work on a multitude of diverse projects, a positive attitude, willingness to mentor junior staff, and commitment to workplace health and safety are imperative.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Soil Scientist, or closely related field and 4+ years of experience in environmental consulting and or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Valid U.S. driver's license, subject to a pre-employment Motor Vehicle Record Screening.
  • Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in environmental consulting
  • 2 years of project management experience and/or PMP training
  • Experience working for clients in the oil and gas market sector
  • Experience working with environmental regulatory agencies
  • 40-Hour HAZWOPER Training

Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $75,000 - $96,000.
