Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking an environmental scientist for employment to be a part of a team for a variety of military environmental projects (i.e., Remedial Investigations, Feasibility Studies, and Remedial Actions) within the Federal sector. The successful candidate will have at a minimum a BS in Environmental Science, Engineering, or Geology with a successful work history of environmental investigation and remediation projects based in Guam.

The candidate must also be able to work as part of a project team comprised of AECOM staff and subcontractors. Flexibility to work on a multitude of diverse projects, a positive attitude, willingness to mentor junior staff, and commitment to workplace health and safety are imperative. Field work may be required including the oversight of subcontractors.

Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:

• Utilizes basic scientific principles, theories, practices and existing technologies to develop solutions for technical problems with limited scope.
• Collects and enters data, and applies technical principles and theories.
• Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
• Entry-level position; may not require previous experience.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or Geology or demonstrated equivalency of experience and education.

  • Valid driver’s license.

  • Ability to successfully obtain a DBIDs pass to gain access to any required federal military installation site locations

  • Must successfully pass pre-employment assessments.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Geology, or related discipline.

  • 5 years of experience within the environmental consulting industry.

  • Experienced with environmental science principles, including site assessment and characterization, remediation, risk assessment, environmental chemistry, etc.

  • Ability to travel at least 30% of the time

  • Knowledge and experience working with Guam EPA and with local Guam environmental regulations

  • Experience military munitions response and environmental projects

  • Possess current 40-Hour HAZWOPER and Supervisor certifications and be able to meet the medical clearance requirements of an OSHA (HAZWOPER) medical surveillance physical examination

  • Effective oral and written communication skills

  • Experience using Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint) and preparing technical reports.

  • Experience using ArcGIS and generating maps and report figures.

  • Excellent skills in written and spoken communication (including polished client presentation skills), organization, time management.

  • Field work will be required, including oversight of subcontractors.

  • Ability to work as part of a project team comprised of AECOM staff and subcontractors.
