Job Description

AECOM is seeking an Environmental Technician III for employment with our Remediation team in the Raleigh, North Carolina office. The candidate will conduct soil and groundwater investigations and remediation projects in accordance with Comprehensive Environmental Response, compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA), the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, various NCDEQ Division of Waste Management Programs and other regulatory programs.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for the completion of complex field tasks, including site investigations, soil and groundwater sample collection, remedial system operations and maintenance, and related work. The candidate may also provide office support for data management, report preparation, and maintenance of the required AECOM-related documentation and forms.

AECOM’s Remediation, Restoration and Redevelopment Practice delivers innovative and often complex solutions to meet our clients’ objectives. Because we address many different impacted sites – from munitions to PFAS to algae blooms and beyond – every project in our global practice is different.

The job responsibilities for this position will include but are not limited to:

  • Participate in environmental sampling techniques including groundwater and soil sampling and air and vapor sampling,
  • Assist with problem-solving skills, and competent use of safe-work behaviors
  • Write and convey thoughts and organize data in an efficient and clear manner
  • Mechanical and hands-on skills to work on/maintain various remediation systems.
  • Ability to work concurrently on multiple projects, maintaining project continuity, progress, and project profitability.
  • Ability to work independently with diverse staff in office and non-office setting (i.e., outdoors, undeveloped/wooded areas, year-round, overnight travel necessary).

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • HS + 4 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Valid US Driver’s License and as a condition of employment must be able to pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records review.
  • Due to the nature of this work, U.S. Citizenship is required
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain medical clearance for driving and wearing a respirator
  • Travel is required up to 90% for fieldwork. Ability to travel out of state to complete fieldwork.
  • As a condition of employment, candidates must pass a drug screening.
  • As a condition of employment, candidates must pass a medical surveillance screening.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BS in Geology, Environmental Science, or other related sciences
  • Experience in environmental sampling techniques including groundwater and soil sampling and air and vapor sampling.
  • Good communicator, self-motivated, good mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills, and competent use of safe-work behaviors
  • Must be able to write and convey thoughts; organize data in an efficient and clear manner; have excellent attention to detail; effectively multi-task; and desire to contribute to a dynamic team.
  • Mechanical and hands-on skills to work on/maintain various remediation systems.
  • Ability to work concurrently on multiple projects, maintaining project continuity, progress, and project profitability.
  • Ability to work independently with diverse staff in office and non-office setting (i.e., outdoors, undeveloped/wooded areas, year-round, overnight travel necessary).
  • Proficient computer skills: Word, Excel, are desirable.
  • OSHA 40 training with current 8hr. OSHA Supervisors training
