Job Description

Aecom Saskatoon is looking for a GIS Specialist.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Assist in the development and application of hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and analyses related to floodplain management studies, drainage / conveyance infrastructure design, and a variety of water resources projects

• Organize and manage large datasets to support hydrologic and hydraulic modelling activities.

• Prepare engineering related calculations and develop drawings and visual aids.

• Prepare Geographic Information Systems (GIS) products for design, mapping and analysis.

• Works under general supervision or the project manager or senior-level team member.

• Under supervision, contributes to the design of databases or development of geodatabases and systems, as well as compiles and analyzes GIS data.
• May enter information or supervise technicians to assemble input and output.
• Creates, analyzes, reports, converts or transfers data using GIS software. 
• Receives instruction on specific assignments, objectives, complex features and possible solutions.
• Use concepts, practices and procedures to extract and provide GIS data to clients. 
• Performs tasks of limited scope and complexity.

 

 

    Qualifications

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering + 1 years of relevant GIS experience OR Technical Diploma + 5 years of GIS experience with specific interest in water resources engineering
    • Experience in surface water-related projects.
    • 1+ year experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D

     

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Familiar with hydraulic modelling platforms such as HEC-RAS and SWMM.

    Familiar with ArcGIS software.

    Familiar with Civil 3D Software.

    Experience with surface water hydraulics and hydrology for drainage infrastructure / conveyance design, flood mapping, and flood mitigation studies.

    • Experience with civil engineering, hydrologic and hydraulic modelling.

    • Excellent written skills needed for technical reports.

    • Excellent attention to detail.

    • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, contractors, and clients.

    • Valid SK Driver's License.

    • Proficient with MS Office Suite

    Additional Information

    • Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position typically is $49,000 to $65000.
    • Sponsorship for Canadian employment authorization is not available for this position.
