 WHAT YOU’ll BE DOING:

Act as team lead to deliver mapping solutions for routine and non-routine GIS projects by coordinating the production aspects of assigned projects with regard to map deliverables, web map solutions, and mobile applications; assist with clients’ Enterprise GIS planning, implementation, and evaluation endeavors by demonstrating an advanced knowledge of GIS software and technology, data acquisition and storage, spatial analysis, and cartographic deliverables; represent the company and assist in growing the GIS service line by driving business development endeavors, project exploration and development, and client engagement; manage advanced projects independently under minimal supervision of the GIS Manager

Once selected to join our team, you will:  

  • Act as team lead to deliver mapping solutions for primarily non-routine GIS projects by coordinating the production aspects of assigned projects with regard to map deliverables, web map solutions, and mobile applications
  • Assist with clients’ Enterprise GIS planning, implementation, and evaluation endeavors by demonstrating an advanced knowledge of GIS software and technology, data acquisition and storage, spatial analysis, and cartographic deliverables
  • Advance the utilization of GIS technologies, processes, and procedures by pushing technical limits to finding new solutions for our projects and clients
  • Present to clients, internal staff, and user conferences
  • Deliver projects on time, on budget, and on scope
  • Analyze workflow for trends to identify problems, improve business processes, and provide solutions
  • Represent the company and assist in growing the GIS service line by driving business development endeavors, project exploration and development, and client engagement
  • Work closely with customers and partners to identify, design, execute, manage, and support custom mapping applications and solutions
  • Guide and mentor junior staff
  • Manage advanced projects independently under minimal supervision of the GIS Manager
  • Any other actions deemed reasonable and necessary by management

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Advanced GIS software knowledge and experience including Esri GIS core products (e.g., ArcGIS, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, Spatial Analyst)
  • Experience with GIS system architecture for Enterprise GIS planning, implementation, and evaluation
  • Experience transforming between coordinate systems and projections
  • Advanced and applied knowledge of GIS concepts and standards, including data development, editing, and quality control procedures
  • Experience drafting proposals, reports, written standards, and how-to documents
  • Proven ability to think critically and solve geo-processing errors and resolve technical issues with data and software using available knowledge bases and community support
  • Experience working with and supporting applications of GIS in various industries and specialties, including municipal projects, utility and pipeline infrastructure, telecommunications, and facilities/asset management
  • Experience working with autoCAD and transitioning data be ArcGIS and autoCAD.  

SKILLS:        

  • Experience making effective formal verbal and written presentations to clients, the general public, and all levels of employees, including management
  • Experience mentoring and leading team members
  • Experience performing business development, project exploration and development, and client engagement endeavors
  • Proven ability to push technical limits and finding new solutions
  • Proven ability to complete multiple assignments through effective multi-tasking and prioritization                                                       

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in GIS, Geography, Urban Planning, Environmental Studies, or similar
  • 4 years of continued GIS experience, or 3 years with a Master’s Degree
  • GISP Certification 
  • Experience ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Pro, ArcSDE, and Portal for ArcGIS (including data versioning, multiuser, and replication)
  • Experience converting data between CAD and GIS
  • Experience with 3D GIS mapping
  • Development using Python, .NET, Esri ModelBuilder, or JavaScript
  • Experience organizing, managing and maintaining ArcSDE data tables 
  • Basic understanding of SQL Server or related RDBMS skills
