Job Description

Principle Position Objective

Perform information technology work in the planning, designing, developing and implementation of information systems, specialising in communications network, Microsoft server systems, security & access management and production systems for the Haile Underground Project.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Configure, optimise and update OT infrastructure and systems for HUG, including developing plans and coordinating the deployment of OT infrastructure
  • Act as the key technical resource in the resolution of critical information system problems and complaints to HUG project system users
  • Research and identify innovative solutions to meet OceanaGold β€˜s requirements and challenges
  • Actively monitor technologies and recommend the best possible fit for the business
  • Gather and interprets data related to OT Systems and keeps up to date with technology

Auditing and Reporting:

  • Design, implement and review core OT infrastructure such as networks, security systems, and email systems for all HUG β€˜s operations, including tracking errors, reliability and data movement
  • Ensure optimum system capacity levels
  • Be a key driver for maintaining and managing OT standard operating environment for HUG


  • Ensures work area is in a safe, clean and tidy condition.
  • Comply with all safety requirements and observes all company policies and procedures
  • Reports all incidents and near misses and workplace hazards.


  • Carries out all other duties that may reasonably be required



  • Tertiary education (University degree on IT preferred) or equivalent experience


  • At least 5 years of experience in IT networking, systems administration, design and development.
  • Experience in Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft, Azure or the like
  • Experience in managing and deploying IT systems
  • Experience with data networking , CISCO, Palo Alto, and underground IP based networks or the like

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs, talk, hear and see.
  • Must be able to work shift work with 12 hour shifts.
  • Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) during the workday.
  • Work is in a surface mine plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity.
  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine environment, including hart hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required.
